TheMillz's News

The world is meaningless, there is no God or gods, there are no morals, the universe is not moving inexorably towards any higher purpose. All meaning is man-made, so make your own, and make it well. Do not treat life as a way to pass the time until you die.
Do not try to \"find yourself\", you must make yourself. Choose what you want to find meaningful and live, create, love, hate, cry, destroy, fight and die for it. Do not let your life and your values and you actions slip easily into any mold, other that that which you create for yourself, and say with conviction, \"This is who I make myself\".
Do not give in to hope. Remember that nothing you do has any significance beyond that with which imbue it. Whatever you do, do it for its own sake. When the universe looks on with indifference, laugh, and shout back, \"Fuck You!\". Remember that to fight meaninglessness is futile, but fight anyway, in spite of and because of its futility.
The world may be empty of meaning, but it is a blank canvas on which to paint meanings of your own. Live deliberately. You are free.

----------------

So yea, I happen to agree with some of this, granted it sounds a bit like it was written with a pessimistic undertone, and if EVERYONE lived this way ( no morals and such ) we'd have chaos, but I do believe some of what it's saying can be applied with great success :)

Hey all, usually I save my "frontpage" newspost for updates regarding game development. All is good in that sense, but I'm looking to share something I stumbled on the interwebz todai .Everything after this sentence is a copy and paste from the story, but I'd like to get your thoughts, as I was surely made to reflect and let it impact me:

-------------------------------
Violinist in the Metro
-------------------------------

This is an incredibly sad story which gave me chills. It is a social experiment about perception, taste and priorities of people.

A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning.
He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that thousands of people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

Three minutes went by and a middle aged man noticed there was musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried up to meet his schedule.

A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman threw the money in the till and without stopping continued to walk.

A few minutes later, someone leaned against the wall to listen to him, but the man looked at his watch and started to walk again. Clearly he was late for work.

The one who paid the most attention was a 3 year old boy. His mother tagged him along, hurried but the kid stopped to look at the violinist. Finally the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. All the parents, without exception, forced them to move on.

In the 45 minutes the musician played, only 6 people stopped and stayed for a while. About 20 gave him money but continued to walk their normal pace.
He collected $32.
When he finished playing and silence took over, no one noticed it.
No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written with a violin worth 3.5 million dollars.

Two days before his playing in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out at a theater in Boston and the seats average $100.

Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of an social experiment about perception, taste and priorities of people. The outlines were: in a commonplace environment at an inappropriate hour: Do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize the talent in an unexpected context?

One of the possible conclusions from this experience could be:

If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing the best music ever written, how many other things are we missing?

My additional thoughts would only be that so many people do things because they are "fashionable" that they forget to look at things with their own eyes, listen with their own ears, and appreciate anything with their own hearts.

Hey all!

Been a pretty awesome new year on my end ( hope the same can be said all 'round ) and I'm finishing up on the finishing bits of artwork for the new game I've teamed up with coder zrb, called "Voodoocide"!

Zrb has been busy toiling about on skewl stuff ( test and all that cal ) and will begin coding it after that is taken care of.

Now to the part that concerns you fine folk: HOW NG CAN BE A PART OF THE PROJECT

Audio: Before I slooshy the lot of NG AUDIO for fitting tunes, I thought I'd put a call out to any NG audio artist who may be interested in having a go at creating music for the game. I say this up front now: THIS IS A NON-PAYING GIG, you WILL however get some percentages like 10-15% when we upload to NG itself ( you know in that revenue bit ) and credit for your work in the game. Talk to me if your interested.

Next, TESTERS.

I will be posting for all those interested in testing the game out in another post LATER, just a heads up now about that, so if interested, be on the look-out for that in time.

Now for just some bla bla bla regarding the project:

-4 huge open ended levels
-multiple upgrades available
-different character skins/colors
-over 25 different methods of suicide ( ie: different traps )
-multiple game modes/types
-multi-player still planed

That's all I got for now, here's a quick peek at the whole bloody lot:

Suicide becomes Homicide ( Status on new Game )

New Game: "VOODOOCIDE" Needs a coder! ( 50/50 money split )

Hey all,

So I've been promoting the current title in the works for a bit now called 'Wonder Circus', and thought I'd put a call out to any NG audio artist who might be interested in doing some custom tracks for the game.

Synopsis: It's a trippy circus that plays kinda like a drug trip, you walk on crazy warped ground, transition into walls and swing on acrobatic poles and trapeze sets.

The mood I'm looking for is best described as " Weird/scary mix with a 'circus tint' ". Here's a rough cut of the game's menu to kinda catch a drift more of what I mean:

Wonder Circus Rough-Cut Menu

Such creepy circus themed tunes I've choosen to represent the general idea of what I'm looking for include the following:

Song 1Song 2

Song 3

To get more of a visual idea, check out some early animated example sequences here:

Navigation ( scroll down to see )

A Magician Boss Battle ( also scroll down to see )

---------------

I can't pay anything, but I'll add you as a musician in NG credits and give some percentages on the co-author parts, as well as add your name in the credits. Like really, if I GET ONE MORE PM ASKING IF "A DEAL" CAN BE WORKED OUT, I'LL JUST USE NG AUDIO AND SCREW THE WHOLE SEARCH. No problem for me, NG has fantastic audio already, I was just asking for the sake of asking.

Looking mostly for 30-40 second loops to play in levels. The levels include:

Creepy hospital wing
Caravan freak field
Main circus tent ( clown division )
Mystic Hall of mirrors ( Magician territory )
Hall of learning
Acrobat territory
Storage level
Wonder Circus exit

...so a themed loop for each would be ideal, keeping in mind speech audio files will be playing at points so looking to mainly keep it from being distracting, just something ambient but fitting of the theme.

Looking forward to seeing what you guys got!

Millz

P.S: I really feel this game here should be doing better then it is, CLICK AND PLAY!!!

Looking for voice actors for upcoming game about a trippy circus.

Check the info here if interested

Game's coming along great, looks to be the best one I've worked on to date ( at least as far as quality goes ) and I'd like to have some talented voice actors along for the ride!

Millz

NOTE: Sorry guys, this job dosn't pay, but you do get credits in the game and a copy for yourself to keep for portfolio purposes. Hope that dosn't scare off some talent, but I guess I'd understand if it does! XD

Game is progressing...Need voice actors! <Wonder Circus>
